Dicotyledons, or dicots, are a group of flowering plants characterized by having two seed leaves or cotyledons. They are one of the two main groups of angiosperms, the other being monocots. Dicots are distinguished by their broad leaves with a network of veins and typically have floral parts in multiples of four or five. They include a vast array of species, ranging from trees and shrubs to herbaceous plants.
